Ice Fishing Tournament Rules

Entry Rules

  1. The contest is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, on all 5 of lakes in Fairmont, MN (Amber, Hall, Budd, Sisseton and George Lakes)
  2. The number of contestants is limited to the first 150 to register.
  3. Contestants must register (check-in) the day of event between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. at Gomsrud Park, 260 W Lair Rd, Fairmont, MN 56031
  4. Should the contest not be held for any reason on tournament day, it will be rescheduled for following Saturday. No refunds or exchanges will be allowed.
  5. Entry fee for the Tournament is $30.00. No refunds or exchanges will be given for any reason.
  6. Contestants must be at Gomsrud Park near the Shelter house at the 9:00 a.m. for a shotgun style start.
  7. If a pre-registered contestant is late for the 9 a.m. start, they must first check in at Sommer Outdoors before they can go out and fish.
  8. Contestants must have a valid Minnesota fishing license at the time of registration. Licenses can be purchase at Sommer Outdoors when you pre-register.

Fishing Rules

  1. Each contestant will be allowed to fish with two lines.
  2. Each contestant may weigh in up to 3 fish. They may weigh 1 Pan fish, 1 Walleye, and 1 Northern Pike or Large Mouth Bass. The Heaviest fish will be the fish used for the contest.
  3. During this tournament the only legal fish to weigh in will be Northern Pike, Large Mouth Bass, Walleye, Perch, Bluegills, Sunfish, and Crappies. All Panfish including Large Mouth Bass must measure at least 7”, Northern Pike must measure at least 24” and Walleyes must measurer at least 15”.
  4. Contestants must fish in the contest area (the 5 lakes listed above) during the contest.
  5. Contestants must display the colored ribbon on the exterior of their shelter or on the person if not using a shelter.
  6. Contestants must bring the numbered card with them when they come to weigh in a fish.
  7. Fish may be weighed in any time from 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Gomsrud Park
  8. Contestants must be in the weigh-in line BEFORE 1:10 p.m. or be disqualified.
  9. Bring fish to the weigh-in station in a bag or bucket, clean, fresh and/or still alive.
  10. Shelters may not be within 20 feet of each other. However, contestant anglers may fish in the same house.
  11. Non-contestants may NOT fish in a contestant’s house.
  12. Contestants are allowed to move around the lakes between the 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m..

Winning

  1. Fish should snow and ice or debris or having anything that might affect its weight. Judges can refuse to weigh a fish.
  2. Judges shall have the right to verify all fish are legally caught. The decision of the judge is final.
  3. The top 10 prizes are determined by the largest weight.
  4. In the event of a tie, contestants will draw a card from a deck of playing cards. The contestant with the highest card will take the higher position on the board. If the tie involves a biggest fish bonus they will have an option to split the money first. If both parties do not agree to the splitting the money the higher card will determine who gets the bonus money also.

General

  1. Contestants are responsible for their own safety, actions, and property at all times. FLF and the tournament sponsors assume no liability.
  2. All laws of the State of Minnesota prevail.
  3. Failure to comply with any contest rules subjects contestants to disqualification as determined by contest officials.
  4. Contest officials reserve the right to refuse sale and/or revoke a contest ticket to anyone.
  5. Contestants and other spectators hereby consent to the use of any names, photographs or likenesses of themselves to be used in the promotion of our contest, including but not limited to print, radio, television or any other media.
  6. Leave the lakes better than you found them and remove all litter when you go.
